A Street-Level Parody of the Metaverse Concept
Betaverso is a humorous visual interpretation of the metaverse phenomenon, reimagined through the codes and realities of Caracas street culture. Instead of presenting a futuristic digital world, the project shifts the concept into a raw and exaggerated urban setting shaped by the language, tension, and symbolism of marginalized neighborhoods. The title plays on the word beta, a street slang term commonly used in Caracas to describe a situation or issue, transforming the idea of the metaverse into something more local, ironic, and socially charged. Through this piece, I explore how global trends can be reinterpreted from a distinctly Latin American perspective, using satire, cultural references, and visual intensity to build an alternative universe rooted in the street.
